Down But Not Out

So... I've been a bad blogger lately. I was sick with Strep for a while then it I ended up being allergic to my antibiotics, so I have been doing little more than necessary lately.

Run-Down of life currently:
-I went to my first "tweet-up" last week. It was at Moonrise Hotel, a local boutique hotel. If you are ever in the St. Louis area, you should check it out. We brought canned goods for Salvation Army and I met some great people. I ended up meeting someone who works for the Blues and he e-mailed me later in the day to give me free tickets to the game that night against the Kings. They were great seats too (9th row)!

-I had two delicious Thanksgiving meals. One even had butter in the shape of a turkey. I hear there are butter Christmas trees too (schnucks I believe). Adorable. I had fruit for lunch to counterbalance my gluttonous weekend.

-I have been obsessed with Grey's Anatomy lately. I am just now starting to watch the series, so I started with Season 1 on Netflix and I am up to Season 4. Woo! I guess that was one good thing that came from being sick..

-You may have seen from this that I have been wanting a puffy vest for this season..and my aunt got me this amazing J Crew one for a belated Birthday gift. I LOVE it.

- I joined the Cold Hands Warm Hearts Swap. I was paired with Chelsea who can be found here. Go show her great blog some love!  The point is to send gloves, and other goodies, and establish some bonds with other bloggers. I'm excited to send mine! Tis the season!

Toodles for now. I hope to be a better blogger.

The City

I watched some re-runs of The City this past weekend and became obsessed. I guess I never really paid much attention to it while it was airing. I am in love with Erin's style and hair. Here are some images...

Yup. New style icon.

A Simple Little Kind of Free

Sometimes you just need a day where everything is care-free and simple. I am certainly in need of a day like that in my life very soon. The stress of year-end and the Holiday season can sometimes be over-whelming. So here's a picture that reminds me of the simple things in life.

A song I always enjoy-sorry I couldn't find a better video version.

Weekend Wrap-Up: Part 1

Friday evening consisted of working a small event then heading home to cozy up on the couch with my cousin for a movie night. Pizza+Movie+Comfy Sweats+Good Company.

Saturday morning looked a little bit like this for me.

Then I tried my hand at thrift shopping. Striked out again. I then salvaged the afternoon by making these granola bars that I discovered on Ashley's lovely blog, Turquoise and Teale.

{The aftermath....}

Then I had some good bonding with a bestie out for drinks.

Sunday consisted of going to a brewery tour {more on that later} with friends from home. Then home for a night on the couch watching Serendipity {love that movie}. Then an early bedtime to prep for a hectic Monday.

Serendipity-a fortunate accident.

Commercial Loving

This is totally random. But I am obsessed with this commercial. Sends me into a fit of laughter everytime I see it.

11.11.11 Once in a Century

Listening to:

A winter Vest.
Wedge Booties.
I found these adorable ones today on Rose a La Mode's Blog via Charlotte Russe. Going on my Christmas List now.

To go on the Budweiser Brewery Tour this weekend with friends. I've been living here for a while now and have yet to tour the brewery. It's a must.

Have a super weekend! I hope you all have big plans. What are you currently listening to, wanting, or hoping to do?

Little Bits

Tonight I had a quick chocolate & wine pairing for work.. And now I am cozied up on the couch watching the CMA's in my sweats. Not shabby at all.
Here are a few little bits of my evening:
1. My vestique dress arrived in the mail tonight. Worth a tri dress (print pictured below).
2. Roomie's Brown Sugar Cookie candle burning. (Sorry in advance roomster. The place smelled so good I wanted more of the aroma)
3. Table decor that needs to be swapped out with a new Pintrest inspired piece. Feel free to send ideas.

Learn a little bit

Fact 1: I wish I could A. Sew or B. Crochet.... My mom is great at both and has tried to teach me a few times but I am Hopeless, with a capital H.

Fact 2: I have have been itching to have a pair of oxford shoes for a while. However, I am uncertain I am bold enough to pull them off. I decided it's time to have some, so I added these puppies to the Christmas list.

Fact 3: I am not ready for the year end or the Holiday season. Yikes.

Go ahead and link up, you know you want to.

Giggles A La Jimmy Kimmel

You may have seen this video floating around Facebook or Youtube, but if you haven't then you MUST watch it. My roommate and I watched it a few times last night and could not get enough of the adorable kids.

Our favorite were the two brothers at the end... "You sneakkkkyyy mom!"

Weekend Wrap-Up. Part 2.

As promised, here is part two of the wrap up. These are more pics I took at my house this weekend.

Wagon wheel decor.

Free-range chickens. Yes, I made sure to bring home fresh eggs. Yum.

Like I said, it's nice to go home, relax, and enjoy the slow-paced life in the country. A town where everyone waves to everyone when they pass each other on the road. Adorable.

Weekend Wrap-Up. Part 1.

Well folks. This weekend I went home to my parents for the weekend. They live about an hour and a half outside of St. Louis in a small town (we are talking population 200), it's where I grew up, and I love going back to enjoy the simple things when I get a chance. I often miss being close to my family, but I would have too far of a commute to work if I lived out there.

I relaxed, spent time with friends, ate some home cooking, got a haircut (and added a pink feather to my do), and went to a baby shower. Here are a few pictures via instagram of my weekend.
Sunset on my drive home.
Fire Place blazing.
Yard full of leaves.

The adorable cake from the baby shower. This makes me want to take cake decorating classes at Michael's. The lady who made this learned there, and I am very impressed.

Yummy dinner of beef stew via mom's home cooking. I made sure to bring back leftovers.

I ended my weekend by heading back to my place and watching Crazy Stupid Love with my roomie. Very good movie, I recommend watching it. It will leave you inspired to find your one true soul-mate.

Stay tuned for Part 2. I had too many pics to cram into one post.

Shopping Diet

Today, 11/1/11, marks day one of my shopping diet. I am on a mission to save money while also stretching the abilities of my closet. I certainly have plenty of clothes in my closet currently, and most don't get worn often. I always want something more...more dresses, more boots, more dress slacks...but now I am going to try to make due with what I have and try combinations that stretch my comfort zone.

My two rules:
1. Only buy Christmas gifts for others from now until Christmas.
2. If I want something for myself, I have to thrift shop for it. Thrift shopping more was on my list of goals for 2011, so now is my time to make that happen if I need some retail therapy. I don't know of many good thrift stores near me, so maybe if I find some hidden gems I can share them on here.

Wish me luck!
